Nissan turned the traditional auto show unveiling on its head by dramatically "unboxing" the all-new 2025 Kicks crossover at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn during NCAA Tournament games. The unique launch activation preceded the 2025 Kicks' formal debut at the New York International Auto Show later this month.

Outside Barclays Center, fans were drawn to an eye-catching 3D digital rendering depicting the redesigned Kicks emerging from an oversized shoebox. The urban crossover's expressive styling evokes the latest sneaker designs with exaggerated fender flares, sculpted bodylines and a striking new lighting signature.

"Unboxing our thrilling new Kicks model at this pivotal sports moment allows us to showcase the vehicle to passionate fans in an engaging, meaningful way," said Nissan's U.S. marketing chief Marisstella Marinkovic. Inside, attendees could get up-close with the 2025 Kicks, enter contests, enjoy live DJ music and more.

Compact Footprint, Huge Personality

The 2025 Kicks maintains a city-friendly footprint while delivering more interior space than its predecessor. A longer wheelbase greatly increases rear legroom, and the crossover now offers best-in-class cargo room behind the rear seats. An available panoramic sunroof further opens up the airy cabin.

Despite its modest dimensions, the Kicks makes a big visual impact with bulging fenders, distinctive lighting elements and seriously sculpted bodywork. The modern interior features a "dual-screen" display layout and minimalist design highlighted by premium materials.

New Powertrain, More Capability

Providing a welcome power boost is a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine coupled with a latest-generation continuously variable transmission. Kicks also introduces available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive for the first time, improving all-weather traction. A selectable "Snow" mode enhances AWD performance on slippery surfaces.

Even the base Kicks S comes well-equipped with safety tech like automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert. Upper trims add Nissan's semi-autonomous ProPILOT Assist system and a 360-degree camera for easier parking and maneuvering.

Keeping Things Connected

Ensuring the Kicks stays seamlessly integrated with owners' digital lives, the crossover offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multiple USB-C ports and available wireless charging as standard equipment. A premium Bose audio system is also available.

The 2025 Kicks hits Nissan dealerships in late summer, with full pricing details to be announced closer to the on-sale date.
